NJ sportsbooks & betting appsThe best NJ sportsbooks for 2026
Fourteen licensed online sportsbooks compete for New Jersey bettors — the most mature betting market in the country, where roughly 96% of wagers go through a phone. We don’t take headline promos at face value: we shop lines across books, claim and grade every welcome offer, stress-test live betting, and time withdrawals.

Which NJ sportsbook is right for you?
Four quick questions on how you bet — sports, welcome offer, app and loyalty — and we’ll match you to one of our top NJ books.
Our top NJ sportsbooks, reviewed
The three partner books we recommend most — when each launched in NJ, what they do best, and our verdict.
BRBetRivers Sportsbook Partner
Best features
Best for
Bettors who want predictable, transparent value — a second-chance offer with terms you can actually read, daily boosts across EPL, UCL, MLB and the NFL, and a loyalty program that pays in real bonus money.
Our take: the most honest welcome offer in NJ, wrapped in a stable, no-nonsense app.
HRHard Rock Bet Partner
Best features
Best for
Parlay players. The feature set is built around multi-leg tickets — SGP Max for bigger same-game parlays and Flex Parlays that still pay if a leg or two misses — and the welcome doubles your winnings across your first ten bets.
Our take: if you live on parlays, no NJ book gives you more room to build them.
FDFanDuel Sportsbook Partner
Best features
Best for
Everyday bettors who want the slickest, most reliable app, a clean “Bet $5, get $250 in bonus bets” welcome, and the option to switch to a strong casino on the same login when the games are done.
Our take: the app to beat in New Jersey — fast, stable and beginner-friendly.
How we test NJ sportsbooks
No book makes our list on its ad budget. We bet our own money and grade what comes back.
We shop the lines
Same game, every book. Consistently worse odds drag a sportsbook down no matter how big its bonus is.
We grade the offer
We claim each welcome bonus and follow it through to cash — measuring what it’s really worth.
We time payouts
PayPal and Play+ cash-outs are logged, not estimated. Most top books clear in 24–48 hours.
We live on the app
In-play speed, cash-out, parlay tools and stability — because almost all NJ betting is on mobile.
What makes a great NJ sportsbook
New Jersey didn’t just join the betting boom — it started it. The state took its fight over the federal sports-betting ban all the way to the Supreme Court, won in 2018, and opened the floodgates for the rest of the country. Today bettors here have 14 licensed online books to choose from, and the gap between the best and the rest comes down to four things.
Odds and line value
The single most underrated factor. A book that’s routinely a half-point worse on spreads or shades its juice will cost a regular bettor far more over a season than any one-time bonus returns. We shop the same games across books and weight pricing heavily.
A welcome offer you’ll actually use
“Bet $5, get $250” bonus bets, a second-chance bet at clear terms, or a profit boost on your first tickets — the best offers suit how you bet. We grade each one on real value after its conditions, not the headline.
Live betting, cash-out and parlay tools
This is where books separate. bet365’s in-play depth and Early Payout, Hard Rock’s SGP Max and Flex Parlays, FanDuel’s same-game parlays — the right one depends on whether you’re a live bettor, a parlay builder, or both.
Speed, payouts and the app
With about 96% of NJ bets placed on a phone, app stability and fast withdrawals decide the day-to-day experience. The top books clear PayPal in 24–48 hours; anything slower drops in our ranking.
Betting on New Jersey teams
New Jersey is a divided sports state, and your zip code usually decides your rooting interest. North of about Trenton, allegiances run to New York — the Giants and Jets (who actually play their home games in New Jersey, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford), plus the Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Nets and Rangers. South Jersey is unapologetically Philadelphia: the Eagles, Phillies, 76ers and Flyers.
The state’s own franchises are the New Jersey Devils (NHL, in Newark), the New York Red Bulls (MLS, in Harrison) and Gotham FC (NWSL). All of them are fair game at every licensed NJ sportsbook, and the Eagles and Giants are two of the most heavily bet teams in the state every fall. One catch: while you can bet the pros freely, college teams from New Jersey are off the board — more on that next.
What you can and can’t bet in NJ
New Jersey’s markets are wide open with two notable exceptions, both tied to in-state college sports.
You can bet on
- NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and MLS games
- Soccer, tennis, golf, UFC/MMA, boxing and motorsport
- College games involving out-of-state schools, played outside NJ
- Futures, player props, parlays and live in-play markets
You can’t bet on
- Any college team based in New Jersey — Rutgers, Seton Hall, Princeton, Monmouth, Rider, NJIT
- Any college event physically held in NJ, even between two out-of-state teams
- High school or youth sports
- Anything at all if you’re under 21 or located outside state lines
Licensed apps enforce these limits automatically — restricted markets simply won’t appear when you’re betting from within New Jersey.
The best NJ betting app — and why
With roughly 96% of New Jersey bets placed on a phone, the app is the product. After testing all 14, FanDuel is our pick for most bettors: it holds a 4.9 rating on the App Store across more than 1.9 million reviews — the highest of any US sportsbook — and it shows. The interface is the cleanest in the state, same-game parlays build in a couple of taps, you can cash out a live bet at any time, and withdrawals start at just $1. For a first-time bettor, nothing else is this easy to pick up.
That said, “best” depends on how you bet. Here’s where each of our top books wins:
Retail sportsbooks & venues
Several NJ books are tied to a land-based property — bet365 to Hard Rock AC, FanDuel to the Meadowlands. Here are the venues we’ve reviewed with a sportsbook on site.
Hard Rock Atlantic City
Home of the bet365 retail sportsbook, plus arena shows and a huge casino floor.
Meadowlands Racetrack
The FanDuel Sportsbook flagship — the busiest retail book in the state, minutes from MetLife.
Caesars Atlantic City
Houses the largest sportsbook in Atlantic City after a $400m property overhaul.
Ocean Resort Casino
A modern, ocean-view resort with a lively retail sportsbook on the floor.
Tropicana Atlantic City
One of AC’s largest resorts, with a Caesars Sportsbook and the Quarter dining strip.
Harrah’s Resort
Marina-district sportsbook with bay views, The Pool After Dark and Gordon Ramsay Steak.

The best NJ sportsbook promos & bonuses in 2026
What the 14 licensed New Jersey books offer new bettors — and the recurring promos that matter once you’ve signed up.
New Jersey is the most competitive sports-betting market in the country, so the welcome offers are aggressive. The main formats are second-chance (bonus) bets, deposit matches, no-sweat first bets and “bet-and-get” bonus bets. Remember that bonus bets are not cash — the stake isn’t returned with a winning bet — so the real value is in the terms, not the headline figure.
Welcome offers worth claiming
BetRivers leads with a clear second-chance bet (up to $250) on transparent, low-friction terms. FanDuel keeps it simple with a “Bet $5, get $250 in bonus bets” deal and the slickest app in the state, while Hard Rock Bet doubles your winnings on your first ten bets — the best fit for parlay players. bet365 and DraftKings round out the strongest welcome packages.
Ongoing promos that actually matter
After the welcome offer, the books that keep bettors are the ones with consistent odds boosts, same-game-parlay profit boosts, parlay insurance and real loyalty rewards. We weight these heavily in our rankings because they affect your returns every week, not just on day one.
All promos require you to be 21+ and located in New Jersey. Check the rollover, minimum odds and expiry on each bonus before opting in. See every current NJ sportsbook promo →
