bet365 is the best app for live betting in NJ: it has the deepest in-play menu, streams a wide range of events and offers full, partial and automatic cash out. FanDuel is the pick for live same-game parlays, and DraftKings and Caesars both stream selected games inside their apps. Every licensed New Jersey sportsbook takes live bets, but streaming, cash out and next-play markets vary a lot from book to book.
Live betting, also called in-game or in-play betting, means betting after the game has started, with odds that move on every score, injury and timeout. Here’s how the NJ apps compare.

Best live betting sites in NJ by what you want
Most live markets: bet365. In-play markets cover almost everything on the board, and cash out comes in full, partial and automatic forms. Auto cash out lets you set a value in advance, and the bet settles if the offer reaches it.
Live same-game parlays: FanDuel. FanDuel offers live same-game parlays on NFL and NBA games, and since the 2023–24 season it has offered them on every NBA game.
Watching while you bet: bet365, DraftKings or Caesars. See the streaming section below.
Quick in-play bet slip: betPARX. Its live section has “Live Right Now” and “starting soon” tabs, and a quick bet toggle speeds up in-play betting. It doesn’t stream, though.
Changing a bet you’ve placed: BetMGM. Edit My Bet lets you change an open bet instead of cashing out and starting again.
Live streaming sportsbooks in NJ
Streaming saves you from betting off a delayed TV feed or a score app. Coverage depends on the rights each book holds, so it changes by sport.
- bet365 streams a wide range of events worldwide, from soccer and tennis to some US games. bet365 says you need a funded account, or a bet placed in the last 24 hours, to watch. Not every event is streamed, so check the schedule for your game.
- DraftKings streams NFL games and tennis through BetVision, with betting lines on screen. A live tracker fills in where there’s no video.
- Caesars has a Watch & Bet button that streams selected games once they start. You need a recent wager or a small balance to watch.
- FanDuel streams selected events in the app, with a game tracker where video isn’t available.
- theScore Bet carries a few dozen streams a day, mostly from lesser-known leagues rather than the NFL or NBA.
- BetMGM streams some events, but not the major US leagues.
Fanatics, BetRivers and Hard Rock Bet don’t advertise streaming in New Jersey. betPARX, Bally Bet and Prime don’t stream. For a Giants, Jets or Eagles game, plan on a TV or a game tracker at most NJ books.
How live odds work: a worked example
Say the Eagles are -200 favorites before kickoff. That price implies about a 67% chance of winning: 200 ÷ (200 + 100). A $100 bet returns $150.
The Eagles go down 10-0 in the first quarter, and the live moneyline drifts to +120. That implies about a 45% chance: 100 ÷ (120 + 100). The same $100 now returns $220.
Whether +120 is value depends on whether you think the Eagles still win more than 45% of the time. Live betting rewards you for having a view the price doesn’t already reflect. It doesn’t reward chasing the team that’s behind.
Cash out and early payout features
Cash out lets you settle a bet before it finishes, for a price the sportsbook sets. The names vary: Cash Out at BetMGM and Borgata, Early Cashout at DraftKings, Buy Out at BetRivers, CashOut at Caesars.
The price includes the book’s margin. Suppose you bet $50 on the Giants at +150, a potential $125 return. Late in the fourth quarter the Giants lead, and you think they now win 80% of the time. The bet’s fair value is $100 (80% of $125). If the app offers $95, cashing out costs you $5 in expected value. Sometimes locking in $95 is still worth it. Just know you’re paying for the certainty.
Partial cash out at bet365 and betPARX lets you take some money off the table and leave the rest riding.
Early payout is different. bet365 settles pre-game moneyline bets as winners if your team gets far enough ahead: 17 points in the NFL, 20 in the NBA, five runs in MLB, three goals in the NHL and two goals in soccer. BetMGM runs similar early payout promos on some markets.
Watch for promo conflicts. Using Cash Out or Edit My Bet on Borgata’s qualifying bet voids its “Bet $20, get $100 in bonus bets, win or lose” offer. Compare every welcome offer on our NJ sportsbook promos page.
Bet delays and rejected live bets
Sportsbooks hold an in-play bet briefly before accepting it. If the odds move or the market suspends during that window, after a goal, a red card or an injury, your bet is rejected or re-offered at the new price.
- Turn on “accept odds changes” if you’d rather have the bet at a slightly different price than miss it. Leave it off if price matters more.
- Expect suspensions. Markets lock at big moments and reopen with new odds. Bets placed just before a market closes are often rejected.
- Use a strong connection. Slow Wi-Fi adds to the delay, and NJ apps check your location before every bet.
Microbetting in New Jersey
Microbetting is live betting on the very next play: the next pitch, the next drive, the next point. New Jersey’s pending bills define a micro-bet as a live proposition bet on the outcome of the next play or action in a game. A bet on the final score, or on a quarterback’s total passing yards, isn’t a micro-bet.
Which NJ sportsbooks offer microbetting?
- Hard Rock Bet listed Play-by-Play betting, which lets you bet on the next outcome, among its features when its current app launched in New Jersey in August 2023.
- Caesars runs Fire Bets, built on Simplebet’s micro-markets, which serves up bets at key moments such as the next drive or at-bat.
- DraftKings bought Simplebet’s in-play business in 2024. Simplebet’s pricing models have powered live markets at Caesars, bet365, Hard Rock Bet and FanDuel.
- Bally Bet generally doesn’t offer next-play markets.
Menus change by sport and season, so check each app’s live tab.
Microbetting limits and NJ rules
Baseball pitch bets are capped. After the 2025 pitch-rigging indictments, MLB and operators covering more than 98% of the US market agreed to cap bets on individual pitches at $200 and to keep them out of parlays.
Microbetting is legal in New Jersey, but two bills would ban it. A-3258 would ban micro-bets online only and cleared an Assembly committee on June 2, 2026. S-2160 would ban them entirely and cleared a Senate committee on March 23, 2026. Neither has passed a full chamber. Both make offering a micro-bet a disorderly persons offense, with a $500 to $1,000 fine per wager.
Microbetting tips
The house margin applies to every bet, and microbetting multiplies the number of bets. Forty $5 next-play bets in one game is $200 wagered. If the margin is 5%, that’s an expected cost of $10, more than most single pre-game bets. Set a per-game budget before the first pitch, and stick to sports you watch closely enough to have an edge.
NJ live betting rules
- 21+ and in New Jersey. Geolocation checks where you are before every bet, so a live bet can fail if your signal drops near the state line.
- No New Jersey college teams. State law bans bets on any college game played in New Jersey and on any game involving a New Jersey college team, wherever it’s played. That rules out live bets on Rutgers or Seton Hall. Out-of-state college games played outside New Jersey are fine. See our college football betting guide for the details.
- No high school sports.
- New wager types need DGE notice. Sportsbooks must notify the Division of Gaming Enforcement before offering a new type of wager.
Set deposit and time limits in your app before you start. Live betting is fast, and it’s easy to place far more bets than you planned. Player props are a big part of most live menus; our prop bets guide covers them. If you’re cashing out winnings, see the fastest payout sportsbooks in NJ.
