About

Located in Oceanside, N.J., Monmouth Park is a thoroughbred horse racetrack. The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority purchased Monmouth Park in 1986 and many of the historic, century-old stakes races were reinstated, with the Monmouth Cup, inaugurated in 1884, renamed the Philip H. Iselin Handicap.

The track is currently operated under a five-year lease as a partnership with Darby Development, LLC. Monmouth Park’s season spans from early May to Labor Day in early September.

Monmouth Park has been a Jersey Shore tradition since 1870. Three buildings have carried the name Monmouth Park in the last 139 years. Monmouth Park’s long and storied history dates back to July 30, 1870 when the track opened, just three miles from Long Branch. The current Monmouth Park structure dates back to 1946.

There is also retail and online and mobile sports betting available through the Monmouth Park Sports Book by William Hill. For dining and beverage service, there are five restaurants and seven bars on site at Monmouth Park. The track plays host to several festivals throughout the year, including the annual Wine And Win Festival and there’s family fun to be had at Bluegrass Mini Golf.

Although there’s no hotel on site, Monmouth Park partners with the Sheraton Eatontown Hotel, the DoubleTree Tinton Falls-Eatontown and the Holiday Inn Express & Suites of West Long Branch.

Monmouth Park is open seven days a week for sports betting and simulcasting. Players must be 18 years of age to bet on horse racing and 21 years of age to wager on sports betting.

Licence

The New Jersey Racing Commission has jurisdiction over New Jersey’s thoroughbred and standardbred permit holders and the authority to regulate racing at the state’s four racetracks.
