Bally’s Atlantic City sits at the corner of the Boardwalk and Park Place, the two most expensive squares on a Monopoly board. It opened in 1979 as Bally’s Park Place and is the third-oldest casino in the city, after Resorts and Caesars. Today it is owned and run by Bally’s Corporation, which bought it from Caesars Entertainment and VICI Properties in 2020.
It is also the smallest earner in town. In 2025 its casino floor won $133.0 million from gamblers, down 8.5% and ninth of Atlantic City’s nine casinos, according to New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement figures. What it offers instead is a central location, a refreshed hotel and generous parking perks for rewards members.
History
Bally’s was built on the site of the Marlborough-Blenheim, a grand Boardwalk hotel from the early 1900s that was demolished in 1978. The casino opened in late December 1979 and used the renovated Dennis Hotel next door as its hotel. A second tower followed in 1989.
Bally’s later expanded into the neighboring Wild Wild West casino, opened in 1997, and the Claridge, bought in 2003. Both were split off over time. When Eldorado Resorts bought Caesars Entertainment in 2020, Bally’s Atlantic City was sold to Twin River Worldwide Holdings, now Bally’s Corporation, for $25 million. The Wild Wild West was kept out of the sale and its operations moved next door to Caesars.
The new owner then put more than $100 million into the property. The work brought a new hotel lobby, a new high-limit room, new slots, a beer garden, renovated rooms and suites, and Phil’s Carousel Bar.
Hotel
Bally’s has more than 1,100 rooms and suites in two towers:
- Bally’s Tower: classic rooms, ocean-view rooms and corner junior suites with separate living areas and soaking tubs. The penthouse-style suites are on the top floors, and some have dining areas, wet bars and pool tables.
- Dennis Tower: the historic tower, with classic, deluxe and ocean-view rooms. Deluxe rooms have a work desk.
The renovation covered 750 rooms, including 112 corner king rooms, and combined others into 16 penthouse-style suites.
Casino
The casino covers about 83,000 square feet, with more than 1,100 slot machines and over 80 table games, according to Bally’s. Craps is played with 10x odds. The High Limit Room overlooks the main floor.
There is no poker room. Tropicana, at the south end of the Boardwalk, has the nearest live game.
Sportsbook
The Bally Bet Sportsbook is near the northern Boardwalk entrance. It opened as a FanDuel sportsbook and switched to the Bally Bet brand in August 2023. Inside are a 25-foot LED video wall flanked by two 10-foot walls, 10 more screens, three betting windows and eight self-serve kiosks. A $50 sports bet earns a free self-parking voucher for the day. The counter is closed on some weekdays, so check hours before you go.

Park Place Prime is the signature restaurant, a steakhouse on the 6th floor with its own bar and lounge. Macau Kitchen serves Asian soups, small plates and noodle and rice bowls into the late night.
Phil’s Carousel Bar is the centerpiece of the renovated casino. It is a circular bar that rotates, with views over the casino floor and hotel lobby, and Bally’s calls it New Jersey’s only rotating bar. It is open 24 hours, 21+, with live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
Entertainment
The Yard is an open-air space steps from the Boardwalk, with live bands, DJs and themed nights. Bally’s Beach Bar is a seasonal bar on the sand with cocktails, barbecue, live music and cabana rentals. The Grand Ballroom hosts headline shows and large events.
Pool, spa and beach
The indoor pool and fitness center are adults-only (21+), a policy Bally’s introduced in 2023. The Spa at Bally’s offers massages and is open Thursday through Sunday. The resort has direct beach access, and Champion Beach, a private section with reserved seating and service, is available to select Bally Rewards members.
Parking and getting there
Bally’s address is 1900 Pacific Avenue, with its main frontage on the Boardwalk at Park Place. Self-parking is free for Bally Rewards members who earn enough on the day through play, a sports bet or dining. Valet runs around the clock Friday through Sunday.
Bally’s is in the middle of the Boardwalk, next to Caesars and a short walk from Boardwalk Hall. Without a car, take NJ Transit’s Atlantic City Rail Line from Philadelphia to the rail terminal by the Convention Center, then the Atlantic City Jitney, which runs along Pacific Avenue out front.
Smoking is allowed in designated areas of the casino floor, as at every Atlantic City casino.
