The Total (over/under) bet lets you wager on the overall score in a game. Bet over or under on the sportsbook’s mark and win if you guess right. We have the full lowdown on betting the Total in New Jersey.
What is Total (Over/Under) Betting?
Total bets are available at all good NJ betting websites. It’s simply a wager on whether the total points or goals in a game will be over or under the sportsbook’s mark.
For example, imagine Dallas Mavericks are at Utah Jazz in the NBA. The sportsbook lists the total odds at:
Over 209.5 @ -110
Under 209.5 @ -110
Both teams have been scoring a lot of points and you decide that an Over 209.5 bet is the best wager. As long as the total points between BOTH sides is 210 or more, you win. It doesn’t matter how far above the point the result is, either: as long as it’s over 209.5, you win the bet.
