NJ Sportsbook Promos: Every New Jersey Betting Bonus Compared

By Sean MillerUpdated

The best NJ sportsbook promos are the ones that pay whether your first bet wins or loses. FanDuel, DraftKings, Borgata, Bally Bet and Fanatics all pay that way, while BetMGM and theScore Bet pay only if your first bet wins. Every offer below is from a sportsbook licensed by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, and you can claim one welcome offer at each.

Headline numbers aren’t comparable. “$200 in bonus bets” is not $200 in cash, and an offer that pays only on a win is worth far less than one that pays either way. Here’s every current offer, then the math.

Best NJ sportsbook promos by what you want

Most bonus bets for the least money: FanDuel. Bet $5 a day for seven straight days and you get a $50 bonus bet each day, $350 in total, for $35 in real-money bets. Each bonus bet expires seven days after it lands, so it suits someone who will open the app daily.

One small bet, paid either way: DraftKings or Borgata. DraftKings pays $200 in bonus bets for a single $5 first bet, released as $50 every seven days. Borgata pays $100 in bonus bets for a $20 pregame moneyline bet, win or lose. Don’t use Cash Out or Edit My Bet on Borgata’s qualifying bet, or you lose the offer.

Cover a first bet you were going to make anyway: BetRivers or betPARX. If your first bet loses, you get the stake back as a bonus bet. BetRivers covers up to $250 with Promo Code SPORTS.

Confident in your picks: Caesars. The ten Profit Boosts add winnings to your own cash bets. There are no bonus bets to convert, but a boost on a losing bet is worth nothing.

Read twice: BetMGM and theScore Bet. Both pay bonus bets only if your first bet wins. BetMGM’s $150 comes as three $50 bonus bets, and you must activate the token before placing the qualifying bet.

NJ sportsbook bonus types explained

Bet-and-get

Place a small qualifying bet and receive bonus bets. Most NJ welcome offers work this way. The key detail is whether the bonus arrives win or lose, or only on a win. FanDuel, Borgata and Bally Bet pay either way. BetMGM and theScore Bet pay only when your first bet wins, so a short-priced favorite gives you the best chance of collecting.

First-bet safety net and second chance bets

You stake real money. If the bet loses, the sportsbook refunds the stake as a bonus bet, not cash. If it wins, you keep your winnings and get nothing extra. BetRivers calls this a second chance bet, betPARX calls it first-bet insurance, and Hard Rock Bet and Betinia pay it as No Sweat tokens. Hard Rock’s ten tokens arrive one a day for 10 days, after a first cash bet of $5 or more at odds of -500 or longer.

Deposit match

Prime Sportsbook is the only NJ book on this list with a deposit match: 100% of your first deposit in bonus bets, up to $250. Unlike most sportsbook offers, it carries a rollover. You must place cash bets worth twice your deposit plus bonus before withdrawing. A $250 deposit with a $250 bonus means $1,000 in cash bets. At Prime’s advertised -108 pricing, that costs about $37 in expected losses, while the bonus bets are capped at +200 odds.

Profit boosts

A profit boost multiplies the winnings on a cash bet. Caesars’ welcome offer gives ten 100% boosts, each on a bet of up to $25. Put $25 on an even-money pick with a boost and a win pays $50 profit instead of $25. You have 14 days to use them, and they can’t go on bonus bets or cashed-out bets.

Odds boosts

An odds boost lengthens the price on a market the sportsbook picks, such as BetMGM’s daily Lion’s Boost or Hard Rock Bet’s Overdrive Boosts. Odds boosts are mostly existing-customer promos, and they cost you nothing extra to use.

How bonus bets pay: the stake isn’t returned

This is the rule that shrinks every headline number. When a bonus bet wins, you get the winnings only. The bonus stake disappears.

Take a $50 bonus bet at +150:

$50 cash bet at +150$50 bonus bet at +150
Profit if it wins$75$75
Stake returned$50$0
Total paid$125$75

That’s why a bonus bet is worth less than its face value. Across typical odds, bonus bets convert to cash at roughly 60% to 75% of face value. FanDuel’s $350 in bonus bets works out to about $210 to $260 in expected cash. DraftKings’ $200 is worth about $120 to $150.

Two practical points follow. First, bonus bets go further at plus-money odds, because the profit is all you keep. Using a $50 bonus bet at -300 wins often but pays under $17. Second, a push or a loss on a bonus bet returns nothing.

Cashback, bet insurance and second-chance bets

True percentage cashback, a slice of everything you bet paid back in cash, has largely disappeared from New Jersey sportsbooks. The Sporttrade betting exchange, which paid weekly cashback, left the state in 2026. What NJ books offer instead is stake-back protection on specific bets:

  • Welcome protection. BetRivers’ second chance bet up to $250, betPARX’s first-bet insurance, Hard Rock Bet’s $500 in No Sweat Bets and Betinia’s up to $250 in No Sweat Bet tokens all refund a losing bet as a bonus bet.
  • Ongoing protection. BetMGM runs stake-back No Sweat tokens and Pro Football BetDefense, which returns your stake if a qualifying player is injured in the first quarter. betPARX runs weekly NFL primetime same-game parlay insurance.
  • Rewards that act like cashback. Fanatics pays FanCash on every eligible bet, and it converts 1:1 into bonus bets. Caesars Rewards credits also redeem for bonus bets.

Treat any refund as a bonus bet, not cash. A $250 refunded stake converts to roughly $150 to $175 if you use it at plus-money odds. So don’t pick a long shot just because the first bet is covered.

Existing-customer promos in New Jersey

You claim a welcome offer once. Ongoing promos are what you’ll use all season, and they vary a lot by book:

SportsbookRegular promos for existing customers
FanDuelDaily odds boosts, profit boosts, parlay insurance, Rewards Club levels and weekly rewards
DraftKingsOdds boosts, profit boosts, boosted parlays, bet-and-get offers, in-game parlay specials
BetMGMLion’s Boost, profit boost tokens, No Sweat tokens, BetDefense, Early Payout, Hat Trick Jackpot
CaesarsDaily odds and profit boosts, parlay boosts up to 25%, Caesars Rewards credits
bet365Parlay boosts, same-game parlay profit boosts, odds boosts, Early Payout
FanaticsFanCash on every eligible bet, daily boosts
Hard Rock BetOverdrive Boosts, parlay promos, weekly Legendary Reward Drops
BetRiversDaily odds boosts for every customer
Prime SportsbookDaily 10% deposit match, second-deposit match of 50% up to $100, Bet & Get tokens

Promo activity peaks around the NFL season opener, the NFL playoffs, March Madness and the NBA Finals. Keeping accounts at two or three books also lets you take the best price on each bet, which is worth more over a season than any single bonus.

NJ rules for sports betting promotions

  • Age and location. You must be 21 or older and physically in New Jersey when you bet. Your home state doesn’t matter, so New Yorkers can claim NJ offers while in the state.
  • No bets on NJ college teams. State law bans bets on any New Jersey college team, wherever it plays, and on any college game played in New Jersey. Rutgers, Seton Hall, Princeton and Monmouth games can’t be used for a qualifying bet or a bonus bet. College games between out-of-state teams played outside New Jersey are fine.
  • Filed terms. NJ operators file promotional terms with the DGE before launch and must state them clearly.
  • One offer per person. Each book allows one welcome offer per customer.

Terms that decide whether you get paid

  • Minimum odds. Hard Rock Bet and Fanatics need -500 or longer on the qualifying bet. Bally Bet needs -250 or longer. Caesars accepts -10000 or longer.
  • Claim windows. Fanatics’ qualifying bet must go on within seven days of sign-up, and Bally Bet’s within 28 days.
  • Expiry. Most NJ bonus bets expire seven days after they’re issued. Each day’s $50 in Fanatics FanCash expires after 24 hours, and you must opt in daily to collect all $350.
  • Cash out. Cashing out a qualifying bet early voids the offer at BetRivers and Borgata.
