The fastest payout sportsbooks in NJ are BetRivers, bet365, Caesars and betPARX. BetRivers says Play+ withdrawals are immediate once approved, bet365 quotes one to four hours for PayPal, Venmo, debit and online banking, and Caesars says many debit withdrawals post within an hour of approval. The method you pick matters as much as the book: e-wallets, Play+ cards and debit can pay the same day, while bank transfers and checks take days.
Every time below comes from the operator’s own banking or help pages, or from what the operator states in our reviews. Where a book doesn’t publish a time, we say so rather than guess.
Fastest payout sportsbooks in NJ, compared
| Sportsbook | Fastest withdrawal method | Operator-stated time after approval | Approval step | Cash at an AC cage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BetRivers | Play+ | Immediate; PayPal and Venmo within 30 minutes | Says over 90% of requests are approved in real time | Golden Nugget |
| bet365 | Apple Pay (to your card), debit, online banking, PayPal, Venmo | Apple Pay instant; others 1 to 4 hours | Not published | Hard Rock, instant |
| Caesars | Debit card | Many post within an hour; most PayPal the same day | May ask for documents first | — |
| betPARX | Play+, Skrill | Immediate; PayPal within an hour | Manual review, up to 36 hours | Harrah’s |
| theScore Bet | PayPal | Instant | 24-hour review | No NJ cage |
| FanDuel | PayPal, Venmo, Play+ | Within 24 hours | Not published | — |
| DraftKings | PayPal, Play+, most online banking | Within 24 hours | Not published | Resorts |
| BetMGM | PayPal | Within 24 hours of approval | Review can take up to five business days | Borgata |
| Bally Bet | PayPal | Usually within 24 hours of request | Identity check first | Bally’s |
| Hard Rock Bet | Instant bank transfer | Often instant | Not published | Hard Rock |
Bank transfers are the slow lane almost everywhere. BetRivers quotes two to five business days, betPARX one to four, and FanDuel three to five for bank and debit withdrawals. A mailed check is the slowest option at every book that offers one.
Approval time vs transfer time
Every withdrawal runs on two clocks. The first is the sportsbook’s review: it confirms your identity, checks for fraud and approves the request. The second is the payment method: how long the money takes to land once it leaves the sportsbook.
Most operators quote only the second clock. That’s why “instant” can still mean a day’s wait. Take betPARX: Play+ is immediate after approval, but its payments team reviews requests by hand, which can take up to 36 hours. Your worst case there is about 36 hours, not zero. theScore Bet works the same way: PayPal funds arrive instantly, but only after a 24-hour review.
BetRivers is the exception that publishes both clocks. Its RushPay system approves most requests in real time, and Play+ pays immediately after that. BetRivers also came out fastest in independent payout tests run from New Jersey.
| Example | Review | Transfer | Realistic total |
|---|---|---|---|
| BetRivers, Play+ | Real time for most requests | Immediate | Minutes |
| bet365, PayPal | Not published | 1 to 4 hours | Same day |
| theScore Bet, PayPal | 24 hours | Instant | About a day |
| betPARX, PayPal | Up to 36 hours | Within an hour | Up to about 37 hours |
| BetMGM, PayPal | Up to five business days | Within 24 hours | Up to about six business days |
Fastest withdrawal methods in New Jersey
Play+ prepaid card
Play+ is a sportsbook-branded prepaid card. Your winnings move onto the card, and you can spend them, take cash from an ATM or move them to your bank. BetRivers and betPARX both say Play+ withdrawals are immediate after approval, and FanDuel and DraftKings list Play+ among their within-24-hour methods. You have to sign up for the card first, and each sportsbook issues its own.
PayPal and Venmo
E-wallets are the most common fast option. BetRivers quotes 30 minutes after approval, betPARX an hour, bet365 one to four hours and Caesars the same day for most requests. Nearly every book requires you to deposit with PayPal or Venmo before you can withdraw to it. Our PayPal sportsbooks guide covers PayPal limits and rules book by book.
Debit card
Debit has caught up. Caesars says many approved debit withdrawals post within an hour, and bet365 quotes one to four hours to the card you deposited with. FanDuel is slower, at three to five business days. Credit cards can’t take withdrawals at betPARX or Bally Bet. Apple Pay withdrawals, where offered, go back to the debit card behind it; see our Apple Pay sportsbooks guide.
Online banking and instant bank transfer
Online banking is fast at some books and slow at others. bet365 quotes one to four hours through Trustly, though it says some banks take up to three banking days. DraftKings lists most online banking among its within-24-hour methods. Hard Rock Bet says its instant payouts run on The Clearing House’s Real Time Payments network, with standard ACH as the fallback when a bank can’t receive them. Traditional ACH and e-check usually take one to five business days.
Cash at the cage
If you’re in Atlantic City, cash can be the quickest of all. bet365 pays cash at the Hard Rock cage instantly, from $1 up to $30,000, once support emails you a six-digit code to show with your ID. betPARX cash is ready at the Harrah’s cage once approved, and uncollected withdrawals are canceled after 15 days. DraftKings uses the Resorts cage, BetMGM the Borgata cage and BetRivers the Golden Nugget cage.
How to get paid faster: KYC and other fixes
Most slow payouts come down to the first withdrawal. That’s when the sportsbook finishes checking who you are, known as KYC (know your customer).
- Verify at sign-up, not at cash-out. ID checks match your name, address, date of birth and Social Security number details. If the automatic check fails, upload your driver’s license or passport straight away rather than when you want your money.
- Deposit with the method you want to be paid by. PayPal, Venmo and Skrill withdrawals need a prior deposit by that method at betPARX, Caesars, FanDuel, bet365 and most other NJ books.
- Keep names identical. Your sportsbook account, bank account and e-wallet should all be in the same legal name.
- Clear your bonus bets first. Bonus bets aren’t withdrawable. Only the winnings from them are. If DraftKings’ “Bet $5, get $200 in bonus bets” lands in your account, the $200 itself can’t be cashed out. Our NJ sportsbook promos page explains how bonus bets pay.
- Answer document requests quickly. New Jersey lets an operator cancel a withdrawal if you don’t supply requested documents.
- Know that debit deposits go back to the card first. Under New Jersey’s online account rules, money you deposited by debit card is returned to that card, up to the amount deposited, where the card issuer allows it.
New Jersey withdrawal rules
New Jersey sets rules on how operators handle your money, and they work in your favor.
- No pressure to cancel. The Division of Gaming Enforcement’s Advisory Bulletin 2021-01 bars operators from soliciting you, openly or covertly, to reverse a withdrawal. The state’s account rules also ban offering an incentive to cancel one. The bulletin says patrons “have the right to receive their funds as expeditiously as possible.”
- No wagering requirement on your own money. Operators can’t put a wagering requirement or other limit on withdrawing your own funds. Anti-money-laundering checks are the exception, and once they’re done, the withdrawal must be processed immediately.
- Delays only for real checks. The DGE allows withdrawals to be held only as long as fraud and money-laundering checks need. The bulletin says the rules “do not countenance unnecessary delay.”
- Casino cages must cash you out. Casinos and racetracks must let their cage process account withdrawals, whatever deposit method you used.
- You can withdraw from anywhere. You must be in New Jersey to bet, but not to withdraw.
Big wins carry a tax step. New Jersey taxes gambling winnings as income. When a payout is large enough to trigger federal withholding, the sportsbook also withholds 3% for the state.
Most NJ betting apps share one wallet between the sportsbook and the casino, so the same methods and times usually apply to casino winnings too. See our NJ casino payments guide for the casino side.
