Harrah’s was the first casino in Atlantic City’s Marina District. It opened on Nov. 22, 1980, as Harrah’s Marina Hotel Casino, with a single 506-room tower. Over four decades it has grown into one of the largest hotels in New Jersey, with about 2,590 rooms across several towers.
Caesars Entertainment runs the resort. VICI Properties owns the real estate and leases it back. Harrah’s is one of three Caesars casinos in Atlantic City, along with Caesars on the Boardwalk and the Tropicana.
Next door to Borgata, Harrah’s is the more relaxed Marina option. It keeps a live poker room, runs a sportsbook and has a domed indoor pool that turns into a nightclub on weekends. In-person gambling revenue was $225 million in 2025, fourth among the city’s nine casinos.
Ownership news
In May 2026, Fertitta Entertainment agreed to buy Caesars Entertainment in a deal valued at $17.6 billion including debt. Caesars shareholders approved it on Sept. 22, 2026. The sale still needs approval from New Jersey regulators. Fertitta already owns Golden Nugget, so the combined company would control four of Atlantic City’s nine casinos. Caesars has said current management will stay in place, and nothing has changed for guests or Caesars Rewards members so far.
Hotel towers
Harrah’s rooms are spread across five towers. Each has been renovated since 2016.
| Tower | What to know |
|---|---|
| Waterfront Tower | 46 stories and 525 feet, opened in 2008; the tallest at Harrah’s, renovated in 2022 |
| Bayview Tower | About 450 rooms of around 600 square feet, opened in 2002 |
| Coastal Tower | The original 1980 tower, redone in 2019 |
| Laguna Tower | 416 rooms, renovated in 2020 |
| Atrium Tower | Opened in 1986, renovated in 2021 |
Coastal rooms are the closest to check-in and the casino floor.
The Waterfront Conference Center adds more than 100,000 square feet of meeting space, including two large ballrooms. That makes Harrah’s one of the main convention hotels in the city.
The casino floor
Harrah’s has more than 1,800 slot machines, including progressives and video poker, and about 100 table games. Expect blackjack, craps, roulette, mini-baccarat and the usual carnival games. Eden Lounge has video poker and live music, and the X Bar sits on the casino floor.
Poker room
Harrah’s is one of three casinos in Atlantic City that still run live poker, and the only one besides Borgata in the Marina District. It’s a smaller room that spreads mostly low-stakes no-limit hold’em cash games.
It is also Caesars’ poker room in the city, which makes it the home of the World Series of Poker Circuit when the series comes to Atlantic City. The Circuit returned in August 2025 and came back in August 2026 with a $1.5 million guarantee.
Caesars Sportsbook
The Caesars Sportsbook at Harrah’s covers about 3,800 square feet, with LED screens on every wall and food from AC Burger Co. Two Fan Caves seat up to 10 people each with table service and can be reserved.
