With the college football season starting this weekend, there is more anticipation towards this season than any previous season.
The new look Big 10, with new schools like USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington, making this Super Conference one of the premier conferences in the NCAA.

AIf you want to bet the favorites, the big game that is going to determine the outcome of the winner of the Big 10 is going to be the October 12th match-up between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Oregon Ducks.
Both teams have Heisman Trophy candidates at quarterback, and this game could determine who wins the Conference this season.
Now let’s take a more in-depth look at the top five teams to win the Big 10.
With the best odds to win the Big 10 is the powerhouse Ohio State Buckeyes. After naming Kansas State transfer quarterback Will Howard (+1500 to win the Heisman) the starter, the Buckeyes are looking for a bounce-back season after missing the college football playoffs. Ohio State is looking for even more than just a Big 10 title this year being a championship or bust type of season. With having the second shortest odds to win the National Championship, it makes sense that they would be the favorites to win the Big 10 (+155)
The Oregon Ducks come in with the second shortest odds to win the Big 10 and also have the third shortest odds to win the whole thing. Led by senior Oklahoma transfer quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who is the favorite to win the Heisman (+750), the Ducks (+200) are a strong bet to win the Big 10 in their first year in the Conference.
Coming in with the third shortest odds to win the Big 10 are the Penn State Nittany Lions. With star quarterback Drew Allar coming into his junior year, this is the season for him to take that next step. It’s been the same story every season for Penn State under James Franklin, good team, but not better than Ohio State of Michigan. However, Michigan is not on their schedule this year, so could Penn State surprise? With Drew Allar being paired with a new offensive coordinator in Andy Kotelnicki, Penn State could make the College Football Playoffs (-140), but seems to be a tough bet to win the Big 10 this season, but if you like a longshot, Penn Satte could be a real dark horse for bettors with an easier schedule with +500 odds.
With the fourth shortest odds are the reigning Big 10 and National Champions, Michigan Wolverines. The Wolverines lost a ton of talent in the offseason, including head coach Jim Harbaugh, starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy, their entire offensive line, a bunch of skill position players, and key guys like Junior Colson on the defensive side of the ball. Big Blue is going to need a whole new crop of players to step up to compete for a Big 10 title in 2024. New head coach Sherrone Moore is looking to take a depleted Michigan team back to greatness, but i’m passing on the Wolverines this season.
And the last school on our list here are the USC Trojans. Entering their first year being in the Big 10 they are going to be looking to come in with a bang. But unlike Oregon, they are probably not going to have the same success as the Ducks. Losing No. 1 overall NFL Draft choice, quarterback Caleb Williams, head coach Lincoln Riley is going to try and take new starting quarterback Miller Moss (+3500 Heisman) and the rest of the Trojans to the College Football Playoffs (+400). I think it will be a tough transition for the Trojans, but they could be a factor in the Big 10 this season with odds of +2000 they are interesting enough to put a small play on for the ROI they could bring.
The Longshot
I would go with is the Penn State Nittany Lions. Only having to play two ranked teams to start their season they may be able to find their way in the Big 10 Championship game in December. The one game that they have to win is the Ohio State game, which notoriously goes bad for the Nittany Lions, but if they can get out of that game with a win, they should have a really good chance to win the Big 10 and offer plenty of value at +500 with the betMGM bonus code for NJ.
The Pick
For me, I think this is Ohio State’s year. I like the Buckeyes adding Chip Kelly as offensive coordinator and with Will Howard as my pick for the Heisman, I think they are a pretty good bet to win the Big 10 this season with Michigan having a bit of a drop off.
