Top Betting Trends for 2025

As we get ready to flip the calendar to 2025, what new sports betting trends might we see in the new year?

One of, if not the biggest up-and-coming trends that is on deck for the 2025 sports betting calendar year is more Artificial Intelligence and Predictive Analytics. AI and Predictive Analytics, will predict the outcomes of plays and games and give users more analytical data as they bet on live plays and games.

Besides AI and Predictive Analytics, look for niche sports, esports, and wagering menus getting longer with more and more offerings.

Another thing that is evolving and could be bigger in 2025 is social betting, you are already seeing apps like DraftKings with social options, where users can share bets, bet with their friends, share trends, and chat during the game.

Let’s dive into some of these trends in more detail now.

AI Betting

First, Artificial Intelligence seems to be the most intriguing addition to our betting world.

You Can Bet on Bots!

Get ready for Artificial Intelligence to infiltrate your betting world. AI is here and it is primed to be the big new thing in the media/digital world for 2025.

Many may already be familiar with artificial intelligence in some form if you used ChatGPT. ChatGPT is a version where you can type in requests for help and tips on building your resume, interview help, or stats from your favorite team back in 1994.

It’s acting as a personal betting assistant for fans. “AI processes —real-time and historical—through advanced machine learning algorithms. Actionable insights based on historical trends and current statistics guide bettors in choosing the most promising wagers. Thus, AI delivers insights that go way beyond a hunch or a lucky guess.”

Literally anything and everything you can think of asking the bots, you can ask and it will spit out the exact answers and data that you are looking for.

This intelligence will soon be all over the sports betting world.

Startup tech companies are focusing their entire company around these Artificial intelligence bots and models. Not only that, but you will certainly be seeing these features being introduced and added to your favorite mobile betting applications at some point in the 2025 calendar year.

Need some information on the upcoming Philadelphia Eagles game? Just ask the bots!

In our society, today more than ever in the history of our existence bettors are more informed than ever before. Long gone are the days when bettors randomly throw $100 bucks on the underdog or randomly on a team that is playing in the upcoming Monday Night Football game. Bettors, from the most casual to the professionals all want to be as informed as they possibly can be before submitting “submit” on an upcoming bet.

Besides projections and stats, these AI tools are built to learn all of your betting preferences. Whether you love underdogs or prefer safe bets, AI will tailor recommendations that suit your style. If player props are your style, the system quickly picks up on that and has upcoming popular plays locked and loaded for you! What a time to be alive for the 2025 sports bettor!

Artificial Intelligence seems to be the answer and the link that will change the way everyone bets in the year 2025.

Niche Betting

A Focus on Niche Sports, Mid Level Influencers, Highly Targeted and Personalized Advertising:

“Everyone’s trying to figure out new revenue streams and where that goes,” says Pete Scott, CSO of Play Anywhere. Scott says we should expect to see more niche sports leagues, betting, and creator economy content driving growth for targeted audiences in 2025. Another executive, Stephen Brown from FOX TV stations adds seeing sweepstakes betting and second-screen experiences among other areas primed for explosive growth.

In a recent interview, Pete Scott went on to emphasize the growing influence of mid-level influencers online and how that will impact the sports betting and sports betting media industry. Scott says “Influencers with 200,000 followers or less will have potential advertisers going to them because they’re driving that impression to performance marketing.

I just think you’re going to see more and more of that and money moving in those directions to experiment with a very highly targeted, personalized audience….” He says that for advertisers, this approach is almost like “direct mail on steroids.”

This is a very interesting concept and something that we will make sure to monitor closely throughout the upcoming calendar year. Especially as this relates to sports betting. As any sports bettor can tell you just by taking a glance at their wagering menus, the options continue to expand and the offerings continue to grow.

Here, Scott implies more of a focus on niche markets and niche content creators in order to get their message out directly to that niche audience.

Let’s take a look at 2024, with approximately $110 billion in total handle taken in across the United States. Of that, $110 billion and $35 billion are being bet on the NFL alone.

As most who are in the sports betting industry know, football is, and always be, king. The majority of the money that comes in continues to be spent on the NFL and then on college football. That is where the bread gets buttered for ALL sports betting operators. This makes a potential shift in the focus on niche sports and niche offerings for 2025 so intriguing.

Many operators believe there is a “slice of the pie” for everybody. If operators can successfully convert on niche sports and offerings and corner that market, while it won’t be as big as football, there is enough there to find a niche and make some money if done right.

Crypto Betting

Another thing to keep an eye on for 2025 is Cryptocurrency. Crypto.com is offering the ability to wager on the outcome of sporting events.  You can already bet on real-world events through sites like Kalshi and Polymarket where you can “bet” against peers. Crypto made this announcement on Monday, Dec 23:

“Predicting the outcome of The Big Game just got a lot more interesting Turn correct predictions into profit with Sports Event Trading, now available across the US.

This is now regulated in all 50 United States.

Buckle up, bettors; 2025 is about to get interesting!
