Caesars sits in the middle of the Boardwalk, a few blocks from the Convention Center and the rail terminal. It is one of the oldest casinos in the city. It opened on June 26, 1979, as the Boardwalk Regency, Atlantic City’s second casino after Resorts. The building began as a Howard Johnson’s motor hotel, and it has been Caesars Atlantic City since 1987.
Caesars Entertainment runs the resort, and VICI Properties owns the real estate. It is one of three Caesars casinos in town, with Harrah’s in the Marina District and the Tropicana at the south end of the Boardwalk.
The pitch here is location and big-name restaurants: Gordon Ramsay twice over, Nobu, and the beach right outside. The casino itself has had a harder few years. In-person gambling revenue fell 6.7% in 2025 to $203.9 million, sixth of the city’s nine casinos, and gross operating profit dropped 40%.
Ownership news
In May 2026, Fertitta Entertainment, owner of Golden Nugget, agreed to buy Caesars Entertainment in a deal valued at $17.6 billion including debt. Caesars shareholders approved the sale on Sept. 22, 2026. New Jersey regulators still have to sign off. If the deal closes, one company would control four of Atlantic City’s nine casinos. Caesars says its management will stay in place.
Hotel
Caesars has a little over 1,100 rooms and suites in three towers. Rooms in the Centurion and Ocean towers were redone starting in 2021, in the first phase of Caesars Entertainment’s $400 million Atlantic City program.
| Tower | What to know |
|---|---|
| Centurion Tower | The 25-story main tower, with larger Premium rooms and the Nobu Hotel on its top three floors |
| Ocean Tower | Renovated rooms and suites, plus the spa and rooftop pool |
| Forum Tower | Deluxe rooms of about 400 square feet |
Nobu Hotel
The Nobu Hotel is a boutique hotel inside Caesars, on the top three floors of the Centurion Tower. It took its first guests in January 2024. Rooms were designed by Rockwell Group, which also designed the Nobu restaurant downstairs. Rooms look out over the ocean, and guests use the rest of the resort.
The casino floor
The casino has more than 1,700 slot machines and video poker games. Table games include blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat and pai gow, plus carnival games such as Mississippi Stud and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. Some table games share a progressive jackpot with Harrah’s and the Tropicana.
Caesars no longer has a poker room. It closed during the pandemic and has not reopened. The nearest live poker is at the Tropicana, the only room left on the Boardwalk.
Caesars Sportsbook at Wild Wild West
Caesars’ sportsbook is next door in the Wild Wild West casino, the Western-themed space in the Bally’s building that Caesars still runs. It covers more than 15,000 square feet and has a large video wall, more than 100 seats, VIP seating and a bar rail. Five private Fan Caves hold up to 10 people each and come with their own screens and table service.
