Private VIP rooms have been prevalent in the casino industry for decades. They’re nothing new to those familiar with the business. Casinos have been comping high rollers and setting them up in private, high stakes games for many years.
Bringing that element of the casino business to the online casino side of the industry, now that would be a whole new ballgame. And Playtech is seeking to make that happen in New Jersey. The prominent gambling tech game developer has made a formal request with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) seeking regulatory approval to be launching private-booking blackjack tables as part of its online platform.
How VIP High Roller Rooms Would Work
If approved, this proposal to add private VIP rooms to online casino apps would definitely be an evolution in the way that online sites operate. It would add a real personal touch to digital gambling.
Under Playtech’s plan, players would be able to pre-book private tables in an online casino’s live dealer studio. These tables would only be open to invited players. Public access to these games wouldn’t be available. It would be the virtual version of being allowed inside the velvet rope. While such private games are commonplace at land-based casinos, there’s never been such exclusivity offered previously in the online casino realm.
The private tables would be overseen by a dedicated Playtech team in each online casino’s live dealer area. There would be specific VIP access channel to get into these games and access would be restricted to only those granted an invitation to play. No public viewing of the games would be made available.
The idea is to create a special experience for players looking for more than just a seat at a virtual gaming table. At the same time, status won’t be giving way to safety. Playtech would still be required to maintain all of the responsible gambling compliance measures called for in New Jersey. These would include bet limits, player verification and session length governors.
What Might This Mean To NJ Gamblers
The dirty little secret of the casino industry is that these casino sites don’t create high roller rooms to accommodate big winners. It’s a fact that the majority of people who are comped to play at casinos get the red carpet treatment simply because they are willing to go big and to go home without most of the cash they wager at the tables.
For most of us, getting beyond the velvet ropes is only a dream. It’s never going to be a reality. However, if you’re one of those fortunate souls who has the clout to access VIP treatment, this would prove to be a huge step up for the online casino industry.
The casino business is always seeking methods to bring more of a personal touch to the experience. This would be a massive step toward NJ online gambling websites being able to offer similar perks to high-end players that have long been the standard at brick-and-mortar casinos.
