Underdog Fantasy NJ review: 50% deposit bonus up to $1,000

Underdog Fantasy NJ quick facts

Pros

• Real-money player pick’em is available, unlike PrizePicks, which doesn’t offer its Player Picks game in NJ.
• Best-ball drafts need no weekly lineup management.
• Open to players from 18, three years younger than the sports betting age.
• College contests are allowed under NJ’s fantasy law, apart from high school.

Cons

• Pick’em is peer-to-peer only, so payouts depend on how you rank against other entries.
• Bonus credit can be used in contests but not withdrawn directly.
• Some national promotions, such as the free-to-enter “Keep Your $1,000,000” contest, exclude New Jersey.

Underdog Fantasy welcome bonus: what it’s worth

All Underdog offers and terms: Underdog NJ bonus code page.

New players get a 50% match on their first deposit, up to $1,000, paid as Underdog bonus credit. The credit can be used to enter contests but can’t be withdrawn directly. Winnings from contests entered with it are yours.

Here’s how to think about value. Deposit $100 and you get $50 in bonus credit, so $150 to play with. Fantasy contests charge an entry fee, often called rake, that’s built into the prize pool, so expect each dollar of credit to be worth less than a dollar on average. A match rewards players who would deposit anyway; it isn’t a reason to deposit more.

Bonus funds expire if unused within 14 days, so plan to use them quickly.

Contests

Drafts. Underdog built its name on best ball: you draft a team once, and the app starts your highest scorers each week, so there are no lineup changes or waiver wire. Drafts were live in New Jersey before Pick’em arrived.

Pick’em Champions. You choose whether several players go over or under their stat projections. In New Jersey this runs peer-to-peer: entries are ranked against each other, and the prize pool is shared among the top finishers. Underdog added it in the state in March 2025, its first pick’em product here.

Underdog’s New Jersey Pick’em is the Champions format only, not the house-banked version where the operator pays fixed multipliers.

Underdog Fantasy app

Underdog’s app is available on iPhone and Android, with drafts and Pick’em in the same account and wallet.

Underdog Fantasy deposits and withdrawals

Deposit with PayPal, credit card or debit card; deposits are instant. Withdraw to PayPal or by e-check. Timing depends on the method, with PayPal usually the quicker of the two.

Rules in New Jersey

Fantasy sports in New Jersey are regulated by the Division of Consumer Affairs, not the Division of Gaming Enforcement, under a 2017 law. Operators need a state permit, must hold player funds in reserve and must offer self-exclusion.

The minimum age is 18. Contests can’t be based on high school sports. Unlike sportsbooks, which can’t take bets on New Jersey college teams, fantasy contests based on college games aren’t banned by the state’s fantasy law.

Underdog Fantasy safety and support

Underdog lists New Jersey among the states where its contests are legal. New Jersey’s rules require permitted operators to offer self-exclusion and keep player funds in reserve.

Underdog left New York in 2025 under a settlement with state regulators, and expanded Pick’em into New Jersey and Delaware the same month.

How Underdog Fantasy compares

Against DraftKings and FanDuel, Underdog skips salary-cap lineups for simpler drafts and pick’em. Against PrizePicks, which doesn’t offer its Player Picks game in New Jersey, Underdog offers player pick’em for real money.
