Golden Nugget Atlantic City Casino Hotel & Marina

By Elizabeth TaylorUpdated

Golden Nugget is the smallest and quietest of the three Marina District casinos. It sits on the water at the Frank S. Farley State Marina, a few minutes from Borgata and Harrah’s and away from the Boardwalk crowds.

The building has had three names. It opened on June 17, 1985, as Trump’s Castle, after Donald Trump bought it from Hilton before it opened. It became Trump Marina in 1997. Landry’s, the Houston company led by Tilman Fertitta, bought it for $38 million and reopened it as Golden Nugget on May 23, 2011. Today it is owned by Fertitta Entertainment and run by Landry’s.

The name means more online than on the casino floor. Golden Nugget’s New Jersey license has been the state’s biggest online gaming license for years. In person, it won $135.8 million from gamblers in 2025, eighth of nine casinos. Its profit still rose 57% that year, mostly because of the online business.

Ownership news

In May 2026, Fertitta Entertainment agreed to buy Caesars Entertainment, which runs Caesars, Harrah’s and the Tropicana in Atlantic City. Caesars shareholders approved the deal on Sept. 22, 2026. It still needs New Jersey approval. If it closes, Golden Nugget would share an owner with three other Atlantic City casinos. Neither company has announced changes to Golden Nugget.

Hotel

Golden Nugget has a little over 700 rooms and suites. Landry’s renovated them in phases starting in February 2024. The new rooms have walk-in glass showers, backlit mirrors, 55-inch TVs and USB-C outlets by the bed. The hallways were redone as well.

The casino floor

Golden Nugget finished another round of casino work in April 2026:

  • Lightning Link Lounge. A new slot lounge near Bar 46 with Aristocrat games, including Lightning Link, Dollar Storm and Buffalo Gold Collection.
  • New slots and seating. New machines were added, every slot chair was replaced, and a new slot area opened in the Party Pit.
  • Atrium. The main atrium got new carpet and lighter finishes.
  • iView screens. Slot players can check comps, tier credits and card status at the machine.

Table games include blackjack, craps, roulette and mini-baccarat, plus progressive games such as Mississippi Stud, Ultimate Texas Hold’em and Three Card Poker. A separate high-limit room handles bigger bets.

For live poker, go next door. Borgata and Harrah’s both run poker rooms a short walk or drive away.

The Sportsbook

Golden Nugget’s retail sportsbook is off the Main Atrium and is simply called The Sportsbook. It reopened after an upgrade in January 2025 with more than 50 HD TVs, five video walls and self-service betting kiosks. It covers the major US leagues, college sports, UFC and the Olympics, with same-game parlays and early cash-out.

Online casino

Golden Nugget Online Casino is owned by DraftKings, which bought Golden Nugget Online Gaming in May 2022. The hotel and casino were not part of that deal and stayed with Fertitta. Golden Nugget’s license also supports other operators, including FanDuel Casino, which launched in New Jersey in partnership with Golden Nugget in 2018.

Restaurants and bars

Most of the restaurants come from Landry’s own brands:

  • Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse. The fine-dining steakhouse.
  • Chart House. Seafood, with a recent redesign.
  • Dos Caminos. Mexican, opened in July 2023.
  • Lillie’s Asian Cuisine. Contemporary Asian dishes.
  • Michael Patrick’s Brasserie. A casual European-style brasserie.
  • Bill’s Bar & Burger. Burgers and beer.
  • The Deck. A seasonal outdoor bar and restaurant on the bay, open in the warmer months.

H2O Bar & Grille sits by the pool. Rush Lounge and Bar 46 are the main bars for a night out.

Pool, spa and marina

The outdoor pool and the H2O poolside lounge are the center of summer at Golden Nugget. The spa and salon offer massages, facials and hair and nail services.

The Frank S. Farley State Marina, managed by Landry’s, sits right outside the hotel.

Getting there and parking

Golden Nugget is at 600 Huron Ave. in the Marina District. By car, take the Atlantic City Expressway to the Atlantic City–Brigantine Connector, which leads to the Marina casinos.

Self-parking in the garage is free every day. Valet costs extra.

Without a car, take NJ Transit’s Atlantic City Rail Line from Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station, then the Atlantic City Jitney to the Marina District.

Smoking is allowed in designated parts of the casino floor. Compare Golden Nugget with the other eight properties in our Atlantic City casinos guide.
